OUT 16 '290 <br />PROCLAMATION (RED RIBBON WEEK) <br />BOOK 8.1 PAUL ���C <br />Chairman Eggert read aloud the following Proclamation desig- <br />nating the week of October 20 -28th RED RIBBON WEEK and presented <br />it to Deputy John Dobis: <br />P R O C L A M_A T I O N <br />WHEREAS, drug abuse in Florida has reached epidemic stages, <br />and the 15-24 year old age group is dying at a faster rate than <br />any other age group; and <br />WHEREAS, it. is imperative that a united effort of the <br />community members be launched to stem the tide of drug abuse; and <br />WHEREAS, the sponsors of RED RIBBON WEEK, the JUST SAY NO <br />COUNCIL OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, are asking the citizens to take <br />this opportunity to demonstrate their commitment to drug free <br />lives by wearing red ribbons from October 20-28, 1990; and <br />WHEREAS, youth, parents, teachers, and persons from all <br />walks of life are offering their commitment to eliminate the <br />demand for alcohol and drugs by wearing symbolic red ribbons <br />during RED RIBBON WEEK: <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY <br />COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA that the week of <br />October 20-28, 1990 be designated as <br />RED RIBBON WEEK <br />in Indian River County, and the Board further encourages its <br />citizens to wear red ribbons or display one at home, at the <br />workplace, school, church, etc., and participate in drug <br />awareness activities, making a visible statement that we are <br />stronglycommitted to win the war on drugs. . <br />Adopted this 16th day of October, 1990 <br />2 <br />BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA <br />Carolyn .
