It was further explained that the County charges 120, and if <br />you can go to the bank and get a better deal, the County would <br />encourage you to do so. <br />Frank Pribanic, 1310 13th Avenue, wished to know how soon the <br />paving could be done as he was concerned about the increase in <br />the cost of petroleum. <br />Director Davis advised that we are finishing up a very large <br />project in the South.County and have 5 other roads ahead of this <br />project, but he would anticipate being in this area within about <br />6 months. The prices quoted on the assessment were developed <br />prior to the Iraqi crisis. <br />Commissioner Scurlock explained that once we set the final <br />assessment, you cannot be charged more than that. <br />Director Davis advised that we did add something to compen- <br />sate for inflation, etc.; the estimate is conservative if County <br />crews do the work; and he felt comfortable with the price set out <br />at this time. <br />It was further explained that this billing is a separate <br />billing that does not appear on your property tax bill, and it <br />can be paid within 90 days with no interest at all or in two <br />annual installments with a 12% interest charge. <br />John Boudrot, 1306 12th Street, had questions about his <br />assessment because part of his property is on 12th Street which <br />is paved, and he did not feel his footage was correct. The <br />Chairman directed him to meet with Mrs. Gentile who would explain <br />how the footage figure was arrived at. <br />The Chairman determined that no one else wished to be heard <br />and thereupon closed the public hearing. She asked how the Board <br />felt about extending the payment plan to 5 years. <br />Commissioner Wheeler wished to offer a Motion approving the <br />project with the assessment to be extended to 5 years as he felt <br />one's home and income is relative to what they can afford to pay, <br />but Commissioner Scurlock believed we have had no evidence as to <br />the appraised value of any of the homes on this street.
