OSLO ROAD/OLD DIXIE HIGHWAY IMPROVEMENTS - AMENDMENT. NO. 1 to <br />WORK ORDER NO. 2 <br />The Board reviewed the following memo dated 10/19/90: <br />TO: James E. Thompson, P.Er--ftr <br />Capital Projects Manager <br />SUBJECT: Amendment No. 1 to Work Order No. 2 <br />Oslo Road/Old Dixie Highway Improvements <br />DESCRIPTION AND CONDITIONS <br />Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc. is under contract with <br />Indian River County to perform professional services for the <br />reconstruction and widening of Oslo Road to a five lane <br />urban cross-section from U.S. 1 to a point approximately 500 <br />feet west of Old Dixie Highway. Reconstruction and widening <br />will include approximately 500 feet of the north and south <br />approach legs of Old Dixie Highway with Oslo Road. <br />Work Order No.2 includes a provision for defining the scope <br />and cost of professional services for. right -of -way takings <br />at a later date. The parcels that need to be acquired for <br />the proposed widening can now be identified based on the <br />design survey and the improvements defined in the <br />Construction Drawings. <br />10 <br />The attached Amendment defines the scope of services that <br />are to be provided in the preparation of a right-of-way map <br />and legal descriptions. The compensation due the Engineer <br />for these services is $19,717. This compensation added to <br />the current contract amount of $38,750 results in a new <br />contract amount of $58,467. <br />ALTERNATIVES AND ANALYSIS <br />The alternatives are as follows: <br />Alternative No 1 <br />Approve the attached Amendment No. 1 under Work <br />Order No. 2 between. Kimley-Horn and Associates,_ <br />Inc. and Indian River County. This alternative <br />will provide the County with ownership information_ <br />and legal descriptions for acquiring• right-of-way <br />needed for the proposed widening. <br />Alternative No. 2 <br />Issue a request for proposals and select a firm to <br />perform the services in accordance with CCNA <br />procedures. This alternative will delay project <br />implementation and may result in a higher cost. <br />RECOMMENDATIONS AND FUNDING <br />It is recommended that Alternative No. 1 be approved whereby <br />the attached Amendment No. 1 is approved.
