RECOMMENDATION <br />a <br />The Department of Utility Services recommends that the Board of <br />County -Commissioners approve and execute the attached contract and <br />Work Authorization No. 1 to provide the engineering services for the <br />Wastewater Improvements..Project at Blue Cypress Community. Funding <br />for this project will be provided from the wastewater impact fees <br />account and assessments. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Scurlock SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Bowman, the Board unanimously approved <br />the Agreement for Professional Services and Work <br />Authorization No. 1 with Professional Engineering <br />Consultants, Inc., as recommended by staff. <br />AGREEMENT AND WORK AUTHORIZATION NO. 1 ARE ON FILE IN THE OFFICE <br />OF THE CLERK TO THE BOARD <br />EFFLUENT DISPOSAL IMPROVEMENTS FOR THE CENTRAL REGION <br />The Board reviewed the following memo dated 10/24/90: <br />DATE: OCTOBER 24, 1990 <br />TO: JAMES E. CHANDLER <br />COUNTY ADMINISTRATO <br />FROM: TERRANCE G. PINT, <br />DIRECTOR OF UTIJI SERVICES <br />PREPARED JOHN F. LANG <br />AND STAFFED ENVIRONMENTAL SPECIALIST <br />BY: DEPARTMENT OF UTILITY SERVICES' <br />SUBJECT: EFFLUENT DISPOSAL IMPROVEMENTS FOR THE CENTRAL REGION <br />INDIAN RIVER COUNTY PROJECT NO. IIS -90 -23 -ED <br />The Department of Utility Services has a 1 MGD wastewater treatment <br />plant in the Central Region with plans to expand the facility tb 2 <br />MGD in the near future. Currently, the plant has effluent disposal <br />capabilities permitted at the plant site, at the Hawk's Nest Golf <br />Course, and- at Grand Harbor Golf Courses. The Department owns <br />property north of the North Relief Canal and west of Lateral G for <br />effluent disposal purposes, some of which served as the Bent Pine <br />utility site in the past. The Central Region requires the ability <br />to dispose of effluent during inclement weather conditions and to <br />expand its reuse system.
