LANG <br />AND STAFFED ENVIRONMENTAL PECIALIST <br />BY: DEPARTMENT OF UTILITY SERVICES <br />SUBJECT: REVISIONS TO THE INDIAN RIVER COUNTY <br />WATER AND WASTEWATER UTILITY STANDARDS <br />BACKGROUND <br />The Indian River County Department of Utility Services Water and <br />Wastewater Utility Standards wore adopted November 1987. Periodic <br />revision of the standards is necessary to keep pace with 'industry <br />standards, County needs, and advances in engineering design. <br />ANALYSIS <br />The following significant changes are proposed to the <br />specifications: <br />1. A large meter detail. <br />2. A chapter with package treatment plant specifications. <br />3. Reduced voltage motor starters for pumps 30 HP or greater. <br />4. Lift Station control panels are required to be UL rated 4X. <br />S. Lift Stations are required to have separate float and cable <br />holders. — - <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />The Department of Utility Services recommends that the Board of <br />County Commissioners approve the additions and clarifications to the <br />Utility Standards. <br />Chairman Eggert asked if the revisions proposed are all new, <br />and Director Pinto advised that the portion that is related to <br />wastewater treatment plants is all new. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Wheeler, SECONDED by Commis- <br />sioner Scurlock, the Board unanimously approved the <br />additions and clarifications to the Utility Standards <br />as recommended by staff. <br />COPY OF SAID REVISIONS TO COUNTY WATER 8 WASTEWATER UTILITY <br />STANDARDS IS ON FILE IN THE OFFICE OF CLERK TO THE BOARD. <br />78 <br />
