JAN 0 S MI <br />BOOK PAGE o <br />Commissioner Scurlock asked the purpose -for downzoning this <br />piece of property since it abuts an area with water and sewer <br />availability, and Community Development Director Robert Keating <br />advised that Ciba-Geigy intends to use this vacant property for <br />experimental agricultural purpgses. <br />Chairman Bird opened the Public Hearing, and asked if anyone <br />wished to be heard in this matter. <br />Local ,architect John Schlitt, whose firm has been involved <br />in doing projects for Ciba-Geigy for the last 25 years, confirmed <br />that Ciba-Geigy needs this property for additional experimental <br />agricultural purposes, most probably for grazing of cattle. Last <br />year they traded some land with the County that they had across <br />the way, which gave them more area to.buffer themselves from the <br />developed areas around them. He spoke of the pressure that comes <br />from residential regarding these agricultural testing sites, and <br />Ciba-Geigy wants this additional property.to give them more space <br />to buffer. <br />There being no others who wished to be heard, Chairman Bird <br />closed the Public Hearing. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Scurlock, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Eggert, the Board unanimously adopted <br />Ordinance 91-1, rezoning approximately 102 acres from <br />RS -3 to A-1; the property generally located west of <br />58th Avenue and south -side of 75th Street. <br />20 <br />
