Discussion continued along the same vein and Commissioner <br />Scurlock still believed that we have no control over the speed in <br />that channel. <br />Attorney Vitunac confirmed that the speed in the Intracoastal <br />is only limited under state law and would have to be dealt with at <br />the state level. <br />Commissioner Scurlock suggested having a separate motion <br />directing Staff to contact the appropriate people in regard to <br />limiting boat speed in the Narrows and Chairman Bird felt we should <br />check on what we did in the Manatee Protection Plan first. <br />Commissioners Wheeler and Bowman withdrew their motion. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Scurlock, SECONDED <br />by Commissioner Bowman, the Board unanimously <br />adopted Resolution 91-23 requesting assistance <br />under the FIND Waterways Assistance Program <br />for Round Island Park improvements and adopted <br />Resolution 91-24 also requesting assistance <br />under the FIND Program for Jungle Trail <br />Shoreline Stabilization. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Scurlock, SECONDED <br />by Commissioner Bowman, the Board unanimously <br />directed Staff to check on Manatee Protection <br />Plan regarding any speed restrictions in the <br />Narrows and in the event there are none to <br />contact the appropriate people at State level <br />in regard to limiting speed in the Narrows, or <br />pursue how this could be accomplished. <br />37 <br />P9 J 9 1 <br />
