2.1.3 Council on Aging of St. Lucie, Inc. <br />In St. Lucie County, public transportation services are operated by Community Transit, a <br />division of the Council on Aging under contract to the St. Lucie County Board of County <br />Commissioners. Community Transit offers two services which are open to the general public; <br />a door-to-door demand response service requiring advance reservations (Community <br />Connector), and a fixed route system that consists of six routes. The Treasure Coast <br />Connector fixed route system operates Monday through Friday between 7:00 a.m, and 6:00 <br />p.m. The base fare for Community Connector and the Treasure Coast Connector services is <br />$2.00 with discounted fares available for multi -ride pass holders and seniors or persons with <br />disabilities. In 2011 Community Transit reported that approximately 146,000 passenger trips <br />were taken on the fixed route system, and approximately 97,000 passenger trips were taken <br />on the Community Connector demand response system. <br />2.1.4 Other Neighboring Counties <br />In neighboring Osceola County, public transportation is provided by the Central Florida <br />Regional Transportation Authority (d.b.a. LYNX). Within Osceola County, LYNX operates <br />approximately ten fixed routes, three reservation based route deviation services, and <br />paratransit services.
