Polackwich, Sr., County Attorney ' <br /> DATE: May 28, 2013 <br /> SUBJECT: Approval of Employment Agreement for New County Attorney <br /> BACKGROUND. <br /> On May 21, 2013, the Board of County Commissioners selected Dylan T. Reingold as the new County <br /> ,.VAN, Attorney, subject to approval of an acceptable employment agreement. After brief discussions, Mr. <br /> Reingold has agreed to use the same form of employment agreement in place with the current County <br /> Attorney. The proposed agreement is attached. The only changes are the name and dates, the salary <br /> amount (which is left blank), and the number of vacation days each year (reduced from 18 to 15, to match <br /> the number of days in the current County Attorney's first year of employment with the County). <br /> Comparable salary information (from 2007-08) from the Florida Association of Counties has been made <br /> available to the Commissioners. The prior County Attorney's (i.e., Will Collins) salary, including an <br /> amount which he elected to defer, was $168,202, and the current County Attorney's salary is $150,000. <br /> Mr. Reingold has requested a salary in the $140,000 range, which is the same amount as Martin County <br /> agreed to pay to its new County Attorney in April 2013 (who was also permitted to earn additional <br /> amounts by continuing to represent a former client, the Highlands County Sheriff's Office). This amount <br /> continues the downward trend in the County Attorney's salary, thereby serving the Board's desire to <br /> reduce County expenses, and is consistent with the comparable salary information received from the <br /> Florida Association of Counties. <br /> Mr. Reingold proposes to start on Monday, July 1, 2013. <br /> Indian River Co.
