LETTER FROM HRS REQUESTING AN APPOINTMENT TO THE INTERIM PLANNING <br />GROUP <br />STATE OF FLORIDA <br />I DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND REHABILITATIVE SERVICES <br />111 GEORGIA AVENUE, WEST PALM BEACH, FLORIDA 33401 <br />Senate Bill 2306 defines the measures necessary to <br />fulfill. these legislative requirements. It charges the <br />district administrator with convening an Interim Planning <br />Group to.make recommendations regarding the boundaries and <br />governance of HRS District 9 and other significant <br />operational issues. <br />District 9 currently includes Palm Beach, Martin,, <br />Okeechobee, St. Lucie and Indian River counties. I have <br />proposed two Interim Planning Groups for District 9. One <br />will make recommendations regarding Palm Beach County and <br />the other will make recommendations regarding Martin, <br />Okeechobee, St. Lucie and Indian River counties. <br />Each Interim Planning Group will be responsible for <br />developing specific recommendations to be reported to the <br />Secretary of the Department and to the President of the <br />Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives. <br />These recommendations are to be reported on or before <br />October 1, 1991. <br />Based on your position as a leader in the community and <br />your interest in and knowledge of social service issues <br />confronting the department, I invite you to become a member <br />of the Interim Planning Group. <br />In the event that you cannot commit the time required <br />to participate, you may appoint a designee or substitute <br />representative who is knowledgeable about the services <br />provided by the department. To assure total objectivity, we <br />are.requesting that any designee not be a service provider <br />under contract with HRS. <br />I have attached a brief summary of the responsibilities <br />of the Interim Planning Group and the legislation which <br />established such groups statewide.
