The five year plan approved by the Board of County Commissioners <br />addresses the need for a hazardous materials vehicle. Along with <br />this vehicle will be the personnel to operate the equipment.,. We <br />will need to provide adequate communications for the hazardous <br />materials team in order to assure communications to Chem -Trek, <br />National Response Center, State Warning Point, etc., in the event <br />of a hazardous materials response. Staff requests approval to <br />purchase the 10 telephones at $185.00 each with funds provided by <br />the State. The total expenditure will be $1850.00. <br />Certain computer equipment is needed to dedicate to the Hazardous <br />Materials Plan. It is important that all computers be compatible. <br />At this time, we have a combination of MacIntosh and IBM compatible <br />providing and storing hazardous material information. Staff <br />requests approval to purchase the following necessary IBM <br />compatible computer equipment with the funds provided by the State: <br />ITEM AMOUNT <br />(1) File Server 386/25 4MB Ram, <br />Amber Monitor, 16 Bit Arcnet $2,300.00 <br />(4) 386sx Workstation <br />1.33 Floppy Drive 1 Meg Ram <br />VGA Color Monitor, 16 Bit Arcuet <br />2 Workstation Printers $1,563.00 <br />(1) 8 Port Active Hub $390.00 <br />(1) 9600 Baud Modem $565.00 <br />(2) Arcnet Cards For <br />Existing Stations $200.00 <br />(5) Hours Installation/Training $65.00 <br />Total Cost <br />EXTENDED <br />$2,300.00 <br />$6,252.00 <br />$390.00 <br />$565.00 <br />$400.00 <br />$325.00 <br />$10,232.00 <br />In an effort to reduce the cost.of the computer equipment listed <br />above, we will be relinquishing and trading our present MacIntosh <br />computer equipment'to Computer Media Services. The credits we will <br />receive will be applied to the cost of the updated equipment. <br />Staff asserts the trade-in value is comparable or in excess of that <br />which could be obtained from other vendors.
