REQUEST FOR DETENTION FACILITY EQUIPMENT - SHERIFF <br />The Board reviewed memo from Doug Wright, Jail Project <br />Manager: <br />TO: Jim Chandler - <br />County A 'nis ation <br />FROM: Doug Wright, Project Manager <br />Phase III, Indian River County Jail <br />DATE: September 13, 1991 - <br />SUBJECT: Sheriff's Department Request for <br />Detention Facility Equipment <br />It is respectfully requested that the information contained herein be <br />given formal consideration by the Board of County Commissioners at <br />the next regular scheduled meeting. <br />DESCRIPTION AND CONDITIONS <br />Staff from the Sheriff's Department has requested the following <br />equipment or items for operational use in Phase III of the Indian _ <br />River County Jail: <br />1. One 15" Buffer w/Perm-A-Grip and Bassine 'Scrub Brush <br />$765.00. <br />2. One Triple SSS -59 Wet Vacuum $459.00. <br />3. One Food Warming Equipment (FWE) Prisoner Tray Server, <br />Model PTS -6090 - $2,920. <br />4. One Blodgett Convection Oven, DFG Series, Model DFG 100-3 <br />$6,000 plus $200.00 uncrating and hookup - Total $6,200. <br />S. Five Hundred (500) feet of Concertina Razor Wire for <br />perimeter fence as quoted by Betlar; Inc:, Fence Sales <br />of Vero Beach $2,131. _ <br />Grand Total $12.475.00 <br />The equipment identified above is related to Phase III operations <br />wherein additional inmates are now incarcerated under secure <br />conditions at the facility. - <br />ALTERNATIVES AND ANALYSIS <br />If approved by the Board, funding for the items is available in the <br />equipment account established for the purchase of furnishings and <br />associated equipment for Phase III of the Indian River County Jail: <br />Inmates are now being housed in the Phase III addition and it has <br />been determined by detention staff that purchase of the equipment is <br />necessary to secure, provide warm food to the inmates, and maintain <br />the facility. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Staff from the Sheriff's Department Corrections Bureau will be <br />available at the Commission meeting to answer questions or provide <br />justification for the equipment as necessary. <br />43 <br />'SEP 2 419T <br />
