Ch n�Ier-- <br />FROM. county Administrator REFERENCES: <br />As indicated in the attached, the Environmental Learning Center (ELS) is <br />exploring the feasibility of submitting an application for state funding. <br />At this point, they are In the very preliminary exploratory stages...: A great <br />deal of information is still needed concerning the specific requirements of all <br />parties -involved. <br />It appears the County would be involved from the standpoint of lessor of the ...i <br />property. As such, there may be certain commitments required by the <br />County. However, there would be no expenditure or match of County. <br />funds. <br />To initiate the process, conceptual approval of the Commission is requested. <br />A formal commitment would only be considered at a later date, once all the <br />details and specific requirements are developed. <br />It is my recommendation that the Commission authorize staff to work with the <br />ELC and School Board in continuing to explore the feasibility of an <br />application. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Wheeler, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Eggert, the Board unanimously directed <br />staff to begin exploring an approach to the State of <br />Florida, in conjunction with the Indian River County <br />School Board, for funding of the Environmental <br />Learning Center under the PECO <br />community educational facility. <br />program as a <br />
