The dual intent <br />',was to maintain competitive coverage for employees and to explorer <br />i.ways to limit program costs, which had been escalating rapidly <br />On January 22, 1991 the Board of County Commissioners approved the <br />selection of Stanford & Co. as the consultant. Stanford and Co.'s <br />,analysis led to a recommendation to the Health Benefit Program <br />Committee that major revisions be accomplished in order to meet the; <br />original goals. Most significant among .the 'revisions was the <br />greatly expanded utilization of PPO providers for medical services.'-, <br />The Plan redesign is complete and negotiations with the carrier and <br />PPO providers are finalized.,. • Attached for Board of County <br />Commissioner's approval are: <br />1. Contract between Anthem Life Insurance Company of Florida and <br />Indian River County for Life, Accidental Death and <br />Dismemberment and Medical insurance through a "Minimum Premium <br />Plan" funding agreement. <br />2. Contract between American Health Network, Inc. and Indian River <br />County for Utilization Management Services. <br />3. PPO provider contract between Gold, Vann & White, P. A. <br />(Doctor's Clinic) and Indian River County. <br />4. PPO provider contract between Humana Hospital -Sebastian and <br />Indian River County. <br />S. PPO provider contract between Indian River Memorial Hospital <br />and Indian River County. <br />Also attached for information is the executed agreement between <br />Schlitt Insurance Services, Inc. and Anthem Life Insurance Company <br />of Florida for local agent services. The cost of this feature to <br />Indian River bounty will not exceed $5,000.• for 1991-92. <br />43 <br />
