Jack Price, Personnel Director <br />FROM: Beth Jordan, Risk Manage <br />DATE: 21 October 1991 <br />SIIBJECT: Excess workers' Compensation Insurance Renewal'=' <br />This is written to request Board consideration on the November 5, <br />!1991, consent agenda for renewal of the excess workers' <br />compensation insurance coverage for County employees. <br />Safety National Insurance Company, the incumbent carrier through <br />Arthur J. Gallagher & Company, has offered a renewal at 31 cents <br />per $100.00 payroll, or a rate reduction of 6.5 per cent from 1990- <br />91 rates. While manual workers' compensation premiums have <br />increased over 38 per cent since the County began its self- <br />insurance program, Indian River County's overall increase during <br />the past four (4) years has been only one (l)per cent. <br />Safety National has requested an increase 'in the self-insured <br />retention from $200,000.00 to $225,000.00 which both staff and the <br />County's actuaries believe to be in line with an excess insurance <br />program. A number of similarly situated counties have retentions <br />of $300,000.00 to $500,000.00. <br />(Staff recommends renewal of this coverage with Safety National at <br />an annual premium of $93,930.00. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Eggert, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Wheeler, the Board unanimously renewed <br />the excess workers' compensation insurance coverage <br />for County employees with Safety National at an <br />annual premium of $93,930, as recommended by staff. <br />T. Chandler, County Administrator <br />THRII: Jack Price, Personnel Director <br />FROM: Beth Jordan, Risk Manager "> <br />DATE: • 21 October 1991: <br />SUWECT: Liquor Liability Insurance Renewal - - <br />This is written to request Board consideration on the November 5, <br />1991, consent agenda for renewal of the liquor liability insurance <br />coverage at Sandridge Golf Club. <br />Acceptance Insurance Company, the incumbent carrier through the <br />Florida League of Cities, has offered to renew the existing <br />coverage for an annual premium of $2,230.00, a $124.00 increase <br />over the 1990-91 premium. <br />Staff recommends renewal of this coverage. <br />22 <br />
