UW88-14-DS <br />` , •:.+ CHANGE ORDER NO. 1 <br />BACKGROUND <br />The subject project extends a 12" water main on 8th Street, west to an <br />existing stub -out near 27th Avenue. The stub -out comes from a dry -line <br />16" x 12" cross at the intersection of 8th Street and 27th Avenue. It <br />is necessary to disinfect and test the existing cross to allow for <br />tying onto future projects. It is also necessary to make the following <br />changes as stated under Analysis. <br />ANALYSIS <br />In order to connect the proposed line to 'an existing line on- 22nd: <br />Avenue, it is necessary to cut an asphalt drive on 10th Street and to, <br />cross+22nd Avenue. (See attached location map.). It was originally <br />believed that the water line on 22nd Avenue was on the west side of the <br />roadway, but was determined in the field to be on the east side, so:a•: <br />road cut was .required. <br />This change order also is to request installation of eight single; <br />services in lieu of four dual services to eight residents ,•-on .26th, <br />Avenue (north).".In this case, four of the residents would be -'required. <br />torun a line across their entire property and under a double drive to <br />reach their.water service entry, where most of the residents will have <br />meters placed on the side closest to their water entrance. The total <br />cost of the requested changes equals $3,119.28. . (See attached Change <br />Order No. 1.) In addition, a time extension is requested. Original <br />contract time is 60 days, but due to excessive rainfall on numerous <br />days, the contractor has not been able to work continuously. <br />Time extension for connection to dry -line, installation of valve, <br />flush, chlorinate, and sample: 3 days <br />Time extension for inclement weather: 48 days <br />Total time extension request: 51 days <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />It id -recommended that the Board of County Commissioners approve Change <br />'Order No. 1, in the amount of '$3,119.28, and a 51 -day contract time <br />extension. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Scurlock, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Eggert, the Board unanimously approved <br />Change Order No. 1 to the Eighth Street Water Main <br />Extension Project, in the amount of $3,119.28 and a <br />51 -day contract time extension, as recommended by <br />staff. <br />SAID CHANGE ORDER IS ON FILE IN THE OFFICE OF <br />CLERK TO THE BOARD <br />66 <br />
