Twore <br />Senior Planner, Long Range Planning <br />October 29, 1991 - <br />Kahn Request to Amend the Comprehensive <br />Redesignate 1888 Acres From AG -2 To AG -1 <br />(LUDA-91-07-0175) <br />Plan to <br />It is requested that the data herein presented be given formal <br />consideration by the Board of County Commissioners at its regular <br />-meeting of November 12, 1991. <br />Comprehensive Plan Amendment Procedures and Timetable <br />The timetable for comprehensive plan amendment requests differs <br />`from rezoning requests. According to Chapter 800 of the Indian <br />::River County Land Development Regulations, requests for <br />':comprehensive plan amendments may be' submitted only during the <br />''-months of January and July each calendar year. The subject request.:, <br />,was submitted with other requests received by the county in July," <br />1991. <br />,.As.,per Section 902.05 of the Land Development Regulations, the <br />`Planning and Zoning Commission shall consider whether a proposed <br />comprehensive plan amendment is consistent with the overall growth <br />management goals and objectives of the county. Based upon its, <br />review and consideration, the Planning and Zoning Commission shall' <br />make a recommendation to the Board of County Commissioners <br />regarding tYe requested plan amendment. The Board shall then hold <br />a public hearing to decide on the transmittal of the proposed land <br />use amendment to the Florida Department of Community Affairs (DCA) . <br />On September 26, 1991, the Planning and Zoning Commission sitting <br />as the local planning agency voted 6-0 to recommend that the Board <br />of County Commissioners approve transmittal of the proposed land <br />use amendment request to the State Department of Community Affairs. <br />DESCRIPTION AND CONDITIONS <br />This is a request to amend the Comprehensive. Plan. The subject <br />property is located west and south of the City of Fellsmere, south <br />of County Road 512 (Fellsmere Road), and is owned by Albert Kahn, <br />a4r1 Trust_-_-. '^ The la..^.d includes approximately 888 acres, all of <br />which is within the AG -2 land use designation. Other than <br />approximately five 10 acre tracts, the entire 888 acres are owned <br />by Mr. .Kahn. Since authorization has been obtained from the owners <br />of the referenced 10 -acre tracts, the entire 888 acre property is <br />the subject of this request. The request involves changing the land <br />use designation for ±888 acres from AG -2, Agricultural -2 (up to 1 <br />unit per 10 acres) to AG -1 Agricultural -1, (up to 1 unit per 5 <br />acres).
