Rison 0PP <br />Staff Planner, Current Development <br />DATE: February 10, 1992 <br />SUBJECT: St. John's Water <br />Special Exception <br />Airstrip <br />SP -MI -91-12-67 <br />91090148-001 <br />Control District (SJWCD) Request for <br />Use and Site Plan Approval for an <br />It is requested that the data herein presented be given formal <br />consideration by the Board of County Commissioners at its regular <br />meeting of February 25, 1992. <br />DESCRIPTION AND CONDITIONS: <br />The St. John's Water Control District has submitted a request for <br />site plan and special exception use approval for an existing <br />airstrip located in the A-1 Zoning District. The subject airstrip <br />is located 5 miles west of I-95, 3.5 miles south of S.R. 60. <br />It is the applicant's intent that the airstrip serve as auxiliary <br />landing facilities for aircraft which maintain the surrounding <br />agricultural groves and which utilize the existing maintenance <br />compound located north of the airstrip. This application has been <br />filed to legally recognize the airstrip. <br />The Planning and Zoning Commission voted unanimously, (6-0) to <br />recommend that the Board of County Commissioners approve the <br />special exception use for the airstrip,. It is now the <br />responsibility of the Board of County Commissioners to approve, <br />approve with conditions, or deny the special exception use request. <br />Pursuant to LDR Chapter 971, Regulation of Special Exception Uses, <br />the Board of County Commissioners is to consider the <br />appropriateness of the requested use based on the submitted site <br />plan and the suitability of the site for that use. The County may <br />attach any conditions and safeguards necessary to mitigate impacts <br />and to ensure compatibility of the use with the surrounding area. <br />ANALYSIS: <br />1. Area of Development: 7.9 acres or 348,000 sq. ft. <br />2. Zoning Classification: A-1, Agricultural <br />3. Land Use -Designation: AG -21 Agricultural 2 (up to 1 unit <br />per 10 acres) <br />4. Defined Airstrip: 55' B 2,900' = 159,500 sq. ft.'.- <br />16 <br />t.�16 <br />
