DeBlois AICP <br />Chief, Environmental Planning <br />DATE: February 18, 1992 <br />RE: Request for Board Clarification; LAAC <br />Purpose, Goals and Objectives <br />It is requested that the data presented herein *be given formal <br />consideration by the Board of County Commissioners at their regular <br />meeting of March 10, 1992. <br />DESCRIPTION AND CONDITIONS <br />Over the course of the past year, there has been considerable <br />discussion and debate by members of the county Land Acquisition <br />Advisory Committee (LAAC) regarding the specific goals and <br />objectives of.LAAC. Opinions range from the strict fulfillment of <br />minimum acreage acquisition commitments set forth in Conservation <br />Objective 6 of the Comprehensive Plan, to a broad, all encompassing <br />interpretation whereby the acquisition program is a continuing <br />process going beyond the minimum acreage, including environmental <br />sensitive wetland as well as upland acquisitions. <br />As such, the Land Acquisition Advisory Committee has requested that <br />the Board of County Commissioners review this matter and provide <br />clarification.regarding the purpose of LAAC. <br />16 <br />
