Cain, P.E. <br />County Engineer <br />Consultant <br />Bridge over <br />LOI #92-82 <br />May 5, 1992 <br />WE <br />Selection for Replacement <br />the Indian River Farms Main <br />IRC Project No. 8940 <br />DESCRIPTION AND CONDITIONS <br />of 43rd Avenue <br />Relief Canal <br />In order to select a consultant to do the design work to replace <br />the 43rd Avenue Bridge over the Main Relief Canal, advertisements <br />were placed to request Letters of Interest from consulting firms <br />for this project. Letters of Interest were received from five (5) <br />firms and four (4) firms were selected from these five (5) for <br />interviews. Interviews were conducted on April 30, 1992 by the <br />selection committee of James W. Davis, Randy Dowling, and Roger D. <br />Cain. As a result of those interviews the following -.ranking of <br />firma for this work was made: <br />1. Williams, Hatfield & Stoner, Inc./Ca`rter Associates, Inc. <br />2• Marshall McCully & Associates/HNTB <br />3. Rimley-Horn & Associates <br />4. Dyer, Riddle, Mills & Precourt, Inc. <br />5• Gee & Jenson <br />The rankings reflect the committee's rating of the technical <br />competence, ability to produce plans and specifications on time, <br />experience in this field, and abilities of personnel to be assigned <br />to this project. <br />According to the Consultant Competitive Negotiations Act the staff <br />recommends that negotiations proceed with the top ranked firm in <br />order to reach agreement as to the work and fee for this project. <br />If the negotiations are not successful with the top ranked firm, <br />staff will recommend to the Board that negotiations be commenced <br />with the next highest rated firm to achieve an agreement, and so on <br />down the line until an agreement is reached with one of the firms. <br />Once negotiations are terminated with one of the firms, they will <br />not be re -opened. Staff is very desirous of achieving a timely <br />agreement and requests the Board's permission to begin <br />negotiations. <br />36 <br />�� <br />
