1.3 BEACH RESTORATION AND NOURISHMENT <br /> Indian Rifer County BCC SUPPORTED the continuation of a statutory funding source for beach <br /> restoration and nourishment projects with an increase over the current amount of$30 million, which <br /> is no longer sufficient to sustain this important program. <br /> Indian River County BCC SUPPORTED $1,125,000 in matching funds for Sector 3. This project <br /> consists of the restoration and maintenance of approximately 35,000 feet (6.6 miles) of shoreline. Dur- <br /> ing the winter of 2014/2015, approximately 173,068 cubic yards of upland was delivered, placed and <br /> graded above mean high water line to repair the damage that was caused by Hurricane Sandy. The re- <br /> questedfunds would be used for continued permit required post construction monitoring as well as <br /> the design,permitting, and construction of the required Sector 3 mitigation reef. <br /> Indian River County BCC SUPPORTED $50,000 in matching funds for Sector 5. This project con- <br /> sists of the restoration and maintenance of 14,250 feet (approximately 2.7 miles) of shoreline. The re- <br /> quested funds would be used for technical support, project feasibility, design and permitting, including <br /> the preparation of an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the project. The funds may also be <br /> used for further investigation of the nearshore hardbottom habitat. <br /> 1.4 Ali ABOARD FLORIDA <br /> Indian River eCounty BCC OPPOSED any state funding for AAF and its passenger rail project; and <br /> SUPPORTED legislation that would regulate higher speed rail in the State of Florida to ensure that <br /> the maximum "sealed corridor" safety requirements are installed at every at grade railroad crossing. <br /> 1.5 COUNTY FUNDING*OF COURT RELATED FUNCTIONS <br /> Indian River County BCC SUPPORTED legislation which would remove the automatic 1.5% in- <br /> crease in funding for Court related functions, and SUPPORTED legislation which would both in- <br /> crease thel service fee charged for recording documents and instruments and increase the amount dis- <br /> tributed to <br /> the board of county commissioners to be used exclusively to fund court-related technology. <br /> 1.6 TRANSPARENCY, ACCOUNTABILITY, AND OVERSIGHT OF-THE <br /> FLORIDA MUNICIPAL POWER AGENCY (FMPA) <br /> Indian RivIer County BCC SUPPORTED legislation that would require greater transparency and ac- <br /> countabili ty by the Florida Municipal Power Agency (FMPA) to its member municipalities and rate- <br /> payers, as I ell as representation on its governing bodies by senior local government officials. <br /> 1.7 OUTI -OF-NETWORK EXPENSES FOR EMERGENCY <br /> Indian River County BCC OPPOSED legislation that limits the ability of local government EMS pro- <br /> viders to be reimbursed for providing advanced life services (ALS) services to patients who have out- <br /> of-network providers. <br /> 2 14 <br />
