Indian River County <br /> EOC NON-WEATHER RELATED HAZARD ACTIVATION CHECKLIST <br /> PHASE DESCRIPTION <br /> Assessment This is the period where close monitoring of a potential disaster begins. <br /> Conference calls with local authorities may be initiated depending upon the <br /> event. <br /> Level III Activation <br /> Awareness This is the period of having knowledge of a possible disaster. <br /> Level Ill Activation. <br /> Stand-by This is the alert period to be ready or available for immediate action to <br /> protect the welfare of the community. <br /> Level III Activation. <br /> Stand-by/Decision The ability to make choices quickly and confidently for the welfare of the <br /> community. <br /> Level II Activation. <br /> Preparation Preparing to active the EOC. <br /> Level II Activation. <br /> Evacuation Officials will determine and announce the official evacuation order. All <br /> evacuation activities must be completed during this phase. <br /> Level I Activation. <br /> Disaster Event Time period commencing with the beginning of an event continuing until the <br /> issuance of an "All Clear"announcement. <br /> Evaluation (Post-Event) This is the first phase of recovery. Time period where an initial assessment <br /> and prioritization of the emergency situation takes place. <br /> Recovery(Post-Event) This is the second phase of recovery. Indian River County officials <br /> coordinate the repair of the public infrastructure and will focus on activities <br /> that will return the community to normal. <br /> Mitigation (Post-Event) This is the final phase of recovery. Indian River County officials will continue <br /> its campaign to mitigate future storm losses. <br /> -29- <br />
