II. RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS <br /> Responsibilities for communication, notification and warning are shared among several <br /> agencies and sometimes involve the cooperative efforts of other governmental entities <br /> as well as public/private partnerships all with a common goal of providing for the safety <br /> and well-being of the citizens of and visitors to Indian River County. <br /> The following organizations share that responsibility: <br /> • Indian River County Emergency Management <br /> • Indian River County Sheriff's Dispatch (County Warning Point) <br /> • Emergency Support Function (ESF) 2 - Communications <br /> • State of Florida Division of Emergency Management (State Warning <br /> Point) <br /> • Federal Government Emergency Alert System (EAS) <br /> • National Weather Service NOAA Weather Radio System <br /> A. Indian River County Emergency Management <br /> Indian River County Emergency Management is responsible for day to day monitoring of <br /> events, both natural and man-made which may impact the safety and well-being of <br /> Indian River County citizens, visitors and property. Indian River County Emergency <br /> Management is also ultimately responsible for seeing that IRCEMT members and the <br /> public are notified and alerted as events dictate. <br /> B. Indian River County Sheriff's Office Dispatch <br /> The Indian River County Sheriff's Office Dispatch is the 911 answering point for Law <br /> Enforcement, Fire and EMS needs and dispatch. The Communications Center is also the <br /> designated County Warning Point (CWP) and is responsible for 24/7 monitoring of the <br /> Federal NAWAS (National Alert and Warning System), the State of Florida ESATCOM and <br /> the local and State Satellite Radio/Telephone devices. <br /> C. ESF#2- Indian River County Public Safety Communications <br /> Emergency Support Function #2 provides coordination of communications support to <br /> Indian River County and municipal government entities, other ESFs, voluntary relief <br /> organizations, and State or Federal agencies requiring communications capacity in order <br /> to perform their emergency response, recovery and disaster assistance missions. ESF#2 <br /> is also the responsible ESF for the Amateur Radio Emergency Communications. The <br /> Indian River County Sheriff's Office maintains the County's VHF radio system. <br /> C-2 <br />
