When directed to open the EOC, hurricane shelters, or other <br /> control points the communicators will: <br /> a. Secure their personal property. <br /> b. Pick up shelter equipment (Attachment#3). <br /> C. Report to the EOC, Shelter, Red Cross Headquarters, <br /> or other assigned control point. <br /> 2. Report to the shelter manager or EOC manager when you arrive. Set <br /> up the radio equipment and conduct a radio test with the NCS. <br /> Arrange the writing materials so they are at hand when needed, and <br /> inform the shelter manager that you are set up. <br /> 3. There will be no emergency antenna or power at any one of the <br /> hurricane shelters, so it is important you take everything with you. <br /> Make sure you test your shelter equipment before you are called to <br /> the shelter. <br /> 4. Report to the NCS when the shelter and the radio station is <br /> operational. <br /> 5. IMPORTANT! All communications will originate or be directed to the <br /> shelter manager, or EOC. Do not transmit at any other time. <br /> 6. The NCS will have complete control of the nets. The NCS will move <br /> stations to other frequencies when needed to maintain a smooth flow <br /> of messages. Always check in and out with NCS. <br /> D. DURING A HURRICANE <br /> 1. Hurricane communications will run through three (3) phases, the pre- <br /> storm, storm and post-storm (recovery). The pre-storm phase <br /> consists of the activation of hurricane shelters and their <br /> communications. During the storm, the EOC will be checking on the <br /> status of condition of each of the shelters.
