Thompson, P.E. <br />Capital Projects Manager <br />SUBJECT: Request for Streetlight at Indian River Boulevard <br />/37th Street (Barber Avenue) <br />REF. LETTER: Terry Thompson to Frank Pendleton, City <br />of Vero Beach dated April 9, 1992 <br />DATE: June 25, 1992 FILE: irbiiilt.agn <br />DESCRIPTION AND CONDITIONS <br />i, r <br />Staff requests a County funded streetlight be installed at the <br />intersection of 37th Sttreet(Barber Avenue) and Indian River <br />Boulevard. The City of Vero Beach is designing streetlighting <br />for the Boulevard and we have requested that this intersection be <br />included in the design. Indian River Boulevard North currently <br />ends by merging into 37th Street. For safety sake, a streetlight <br />needs to be installed to illuminate the temporary end of the <br />Boulevard. <br />At the current -time, the County funds 40± streetlights at roadway <br />intersections along collector roads, not including those along <br />major arterial corridors such as SR60, US1, or AIA and those in <br />streetlight districts. <br />ALTERNATIVES AND ANALYSIS <br />The Alternatives presented are: <br />Alternative No. 1 <br />Deny the request. <br />Alternative No. 2 <br />Approve the request for a County funded streetlight. <br />RECOMMENDATIONS AND FUNDING <br />Alternative No. 2 is recommended. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Scurlock, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Wheeler, the Board unanimously (4-0, <br />Commissioner Bird being temporarily delayed), <br />approved a County -funded streetlight to be installed <br />at the intersection of 37th Street (Barber Avenue) <br />and Indian River Boulevard, as recommended by staff. <br />E <br />JUL 07 1992 <br />
