Indian River County, Florida <br />Memorandum <br />TO: Jason Brown, County Administrator <br />THROUGH: Michael Smykowski, Director, OMB <br />FROM: Beth Martin, Risk Manager <br />DATE: August 8, 2016 <br />SUBJECT: Third Party Claims Administration Contract Negotiation <br />It is requested that the Board of County Commissioners consider the following Consent <br />Agenda item at their August 16, 2016 regular meeting. <br />Background <br />In February, 2005 the Board entered into an agreement with Johns Eastern Company, Inc. <br />(JECO) to provide third party claims administration services for the self-insurance <br />program, and renewed the agreement in 2009 for a period to conclude on September 30, <br />2016. <br />Analysis <br />In May 2016, Siver Insurance Consultants (Siver) performed a comprehensive review of <br />JECO's work on the County's behalf, and a summary of their findings and <br />recommendation is attached. After consultation with Purchasing, staff requested Siver <br />negotiate a favorable renewal agreement for the County. <br />Staff remains confident that an agreement can be brought to the Board prior to the current <br />expiration.
