performs the necessary inspection services, staff is concerned that there will be no <br />competition for bids and less certain availability of services unless more inspection arms are <br />sought and pre -qualified to bid. As a result, staff is requesting that the Board authorize the <br />RFQ process to solicit services of more inspection firms so that the rehabilitation program <br />does not become dependent on the services of only one firm. <br />Theabovefour referenced firms have already signed housing inspection services agreements <br />with the county; therefore, those firms do not need to re -apply. The requested RFQ process_ is <br />intended to simply add a number of qualified inspection firms to the existing list of four - <br />approved firms. <br />M, <br />The cost of the referenced_ inspection services is paid with SHIP funds. No special funding is <br />needed to conduct the RFQ process. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff recommends that the Board of County Commissioners authorize the Community <br />Development Director or his designee to coordinate with the Purchasing Division to make any <br />formatting changes needed and to advertise for the housing inspection services RFQ. <br />ATTACHMENT: <br />I .
