• <br />• <br />• <br />LAWS OF FLORIDA 2209 <br />Section 85. The Marshal and members of the police force, in <br />addition to the powers incident to their office and as herein desig- <br />nated, shall possess the common law and statutory authority of con- <br />stables, except for the service of civil process. <br />Section 86. Should any elective or appointed officer provided <br />f : by this Act, or by ordinance, fail to give bond as required by <br />ordinance, within thirty clays from his election or appointment, <br />said office shall be declared vacant. <br />Section 87. No suit against the City of Vero Beach arising from <br />any claim or demand of whatsoever nature not heretofore pre- <br />sented, or which may hereafter arise, shall be brought or main- <br />tained in any court unless such claim was presented to the City <br />Council of said City within sixty days after the time this Act takes <br />effect or within sixty days after such alleged claim arose against <br />said City; and no suit or proceeding at law or in equity shall be <br />maintained on any such claim, demand or right of action unless <br />prosecuted within six months after presentation of same to the <br />City Council of said City. <br />Section 88. If any member of the City Council shall fail to <br />attend meetings of said City Council for a consecutive period of <br />three months, then the office of said member of the Council may <br />be declared vacant by a majority vote of the Council. <br />Section 89. The registration officer shall keep a set of books in <br />which he shall keep a list of all qualified voters. He shall open the <br />registration books thirty days prior to any election and close the <br />same five days prior to the election. He shall perform such, other <br />duties as may be prescribed by the City Council and the manner <br />of performance of his duties shall be fixed by ordinance. <br />Section 90. The City Council shall have power to provide by <br />ordinance for the appropriation of money for the payment of the <br />debts and expenses of the City. <br />Section 91. Tho City Council shall fix by ordinance from time <br />to time the compensation of all City officers and employees. <br />Section 92. Immediately after an ordinance has been passed by <br />the Council and approved by the Mayor or has become a law wit.h- <br />out the approval of the Mayor, it shall be the duty of the Clerk <br />to publish the same by posting said ordinance at the door of the <br />City Hall or Council Chamber. The City Council may direct that <br />such ordinance be published in a newspaper published at Vero <br />Beach, Florida, or within Indian River County, Florida. <br />Section 93.
