It shall be the duty of the Tax Assessor to assess <br />all taxable property, both real and personal, within the corporate <br />limits of the City. The manner in which he shall perform his du- <br />ties shall be determined by ordinance. <br />Section 81. The Tax• Collector shall collect all City taxes and <br />shall perform such other duties as may be prescribed by the City <br />Council. The manner in which he shall perform his duties shall <br />be determined by ordinance. <br />Section 82. The Clerk of the City of Vero Beach shall act as <br />Clerk of the Municipal Court and of the City Council. He shall <br />be authorized to administer oaths and take affidavits. He shall <br />perform such other duties as may be prescribed by the City Coun- <br />cil. The manner in which he shall perform his duties shall be de- <br />termined by ordinance. <br />The City Treasurer shall be the official custodian of all the funds <br />of the City. He shall deposit City funds in such bank or banks <br />as the City Council may prescribe. He shall perform such other <br />duties as the Council may prescribe. The manner in which he shall <br />perform his duties shall be determined by ordinance. <br />Section 83. The Marshal shall be Chief of Police of the City of <br />Vero Beach. It shall be his duty to attend all regular and special <br />meetings of the City Council; to aid in the enforcement of order <br />under the direction of the presiding officer; to execute the com- <br />mands of the Mayor and Council from time to time, and to execute <br />any process issued by authority of the Mayor or City Council; to <br />attend the Municipal Court during its sittings and to execute its <br />commands; to aid in the enforcement of order therein under the <br />direction of the Mayor; and to perform such other duties as may <br />be appropriate to his office under the provisions of law or as re- <br />quired by ordinance. He shall have control of the police force, <br />subject to the commands of the Mayor and City Council, and shall <br />have police powers to make arrests for any violation of the lawful <br />orders of the Mayor and City Council. All policemen appointed <br />by the Mayor shall be deputies of the Marshal and shall have the <br />same authority as the Marshal, but subject to his direction and <br />control. <br />Section 84. The Marshal shall have power and authority to im- <br />mediately arrest and take into custody, with or without warrant, <br />any person who shall commit, threaten or attempt to' commit in his <br />presence any offense prohibited by ordinance; and he shall without <br />necessary delay upon making such arrests convey the offender be- <br />fore the Mayor to be dealt with according to law. <br />las <br />
