Item of Payment <br />Payment shall be made under: <br />Bid Item No. 160-4 - Type B Stabilization LBR40 (12") - Per Square Yard <br />SECTION - 283 - RECLAIMED ASPHALT BASE COURSE — FULL DEPTH RECLAMATION <br />DESCRIPTION - This work is the in-place construction of a Reclaimed Asphalt Base Course, <br />using either reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP) material and/or reclaimed aggregate material <br />(RAM), and existing road base material combined with virgin aggregates and/or bituminous <br />material. It is the intent of this contract to recycle 100% of the existing asphalt pavement and <br />part or all of the existing base course to ensure that the completed reclaimed base course will <br />be of a consistent material and thickness throughout. This will include, but is not limited to, all <br />existing asphalt pavement adjacent to all concrete curbing, storm sewer inlets, manholes, <br />sanitary sewer manholes, and all utility valve boxes. <br />This item will include, but not be limited to moving the base material to the boxed out sections <br />for the proposed paved shoulder, imported select material required to meet the proposed <br />sections on the plans, grading, compaction, prime and tack coat, sawcut and removal of <br />existing materials for driveways and side streets. <br />CONTRACTOR QUALIFICATIONS - Bidders shall have a minimum of three years of <br />experience in the construction of reclaimed asphalt base course. Bidders shall provide a list of <br />five successfully completed full depth reclamation projects within the State of Florida along <br />with contact information for the Owners of those projects, and the completion date for each <br />project. Bidders shall also provide a list of the major equipment that will be used on this <br />project. <br />SUBMITTALS — Submit Mix Designs for Reclaimed Asphalt Base Course and detailed <br />Traffic Control Plan to the County for approval prior to the start of construction. Submittals <br />must be transmitted to the County a minimum of 3 working days prior to the start of <br />construction. <br />BASE COURSE DESIGN - The Contractor shall review the core data provided for the existing <br />roadway and shall perform testing and/or coring prior to submitting a Bid to verify that the Cold <br />Recycled Bituminous Base Course Mix Design or the Reclaimed Asphalt Base Course Mix <br />Design, as applicable, has a minimum Structural Number (SN) of 1.8 for the total thickness of <br />the finished/completed base course. The Contractor shall be responsible for preparing Mix <br />Designs for the Cold Recycled Bituminous Base Course Mix Design or the Reclaimed Asphalt <br />Base Course Mix Design, as applicable, prior to the start of construction. The Contractor will <br />also be required to test the completed base course and provide test results that verify that the <br />completed base course meets the specified Structural Number. In the event that the <br />completed reclaimed asphalt base does not meet the minimum Structural Number specified, <br />the County may require corrective work on the base course or the placement of additional <br />asphalt surface course.
