Consent <br />INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA <br />DEPARTMENT OF EMERGENCY SERVICES <br />MEMORANDUM <br />TO: Honorable Board of County Commissioners <br />THROUGH: Jason E. Brown, County Administrator <br />FROM: John King, Director <br />Department of Emergency Services <br />DATE: December 8, 2016 <br />SUBJECT: Approval of Federally Funded Public Assistance Funding Agreement <br />Iridian River County was included in the major disaster declaration (FEMA4283-DR) due to <br />Hurricane Matthew and was included in the declaration for Individual and Public Assistance. <br />FEMA's Public Assistance program is a Federal grant to aid State and Local governments in <br />returning a disaster area to ;pre -disaster conditions. A minimum of 75% of eligible cost is provided <br />to primarily address the repair and restoration of public facilities and infrastructure which have been <br />damaged or destroyed, or the restoration of services which were negatively impacted. <br />As an eligible applicant, Indian River County submitted a formal Request for Public Assistance. <br />That request has been approved and the next step is for Indian River County to enter into the <br />Federally Funded Public Assistance Funding Agreement with the Florida Division of Emergency <br />Management. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff recommends approval of this agreement in order for Indian River County to be eligible for <br />federal funds. <br />ATTACHMENTS: <br />Two (2) original contracts for the Chairman's signature. <br />P50 <br />
