REJECTION OF BID FOR REMOVAL OF PELICAN POINTE WASTEWATER <br />TREATMENT PLANT <br />The Board reviewed the following memo dated 8/13/92: <br />DATE: AUGUST 13, 1992 <br />TO: JAMES E. DRUM —IQ,P <br />AND STAFFED ENVIRONMENTAL SPECIALIST <br />BY: DEPARTMENT OF UTILITY SERVICES <br />SUBJECT: PELICAN POINTE WWTP REMOVAL <br />BID N0:-92-103 <br />�KGROUND <br />On June 24, 1992, Indian River County advertised for Bid (No. <br />92-103) for the removal/sale of the Pelican Pointe Wastewater <br />Treatment Plant. All bids were to be received by 2:00 p.m. on July <br />15, 1992. The Board of County Commissioners reserved the right to <br />accept or reject any and all bids in whole or in part and to waive <br />all informalities (see attached). The bid process generated only <br />one response in the amount of $1,402.00. <br />ANALYSIS <br />The Department of Utility Services suggests rejecting the submitted <br />bid in the amount of $1,402.00 and authorizing this department to <br />negotiate a sale to produce greater income, more in line with the <br />cost of a used 90,000 -gallon capacity wastewater treatment plant. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />The staff of the Department of Utility Services recommends that the <br />Board of County Commissioners reject the bid received on July 15, <br />1992, in the amount of $1,402.00 for the removal and sale of the <br />Pelican Pointe Wastewater -Treatment Plant and approve the <br />authorization to negotiate the sale of same. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Scurlock, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Bowman, the Board unanimously rejected <br />Bid No. 92-103 received on 7/15/92 in the amount of <br />$1,402.00 for the removal and sale of the Pelican <br />Pointe Wastewater Treatment Plant and approved the <br />authorization to negotiate the sale of same, as <br />recommended by staff. <br />Commissioner Bird asked if there might be any value as a plant, <br />and Utilities Director Terry Pinto felt there may be considering <br />41 <br />AUG 2 5 1992 BOOK <br />
