" OSTER, P.E. <br />ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEER <br />DEPARTMENT OF UTILITY SERVICES <br />SUBJECT: SLUDGE/SEPTAGE FACILITY <br />RETAINAGE <br />BACKGROUND: <br />The agreement with the contractor for the Sludge/Septage Facility <br />states that ten (10) percent of all monies earned by the Contractor - <br />shall be retained by the County until the project is totally <br />completed as specified, and accepted by the County except that after <br />50 percent of the work has been satisfactorily completed, the <br />Contractor Administrator may reduce the retainage to 5 percent of <br />all monies earned (see attached). <br />ANALYSIS: <br />The contractor, Poole & Kent, has completed 50% of the project and <br />requests that his retainage be reduced to 5% of all monies earned in <br />accordance with paragraph 5.2 of his agreement with the County <br />(letter from CDM attached). <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />The staff of the Department of Utility Services recommends approval <br />of the retainage reduction from 10% to 5% of monies earned. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Scurlock, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Bird, the Board unanimously (3-0, <br />Chairman Eggert being absent) approved the retainage <br />reduction from 10% to 5% of all monies earned by <br />Poole & Kent, as recommended by staff. <br />
