Honorable Chairman and <br />Board of County Commissioners <br />9/16/91 <br />Page 7 <br />The Director of Utility Services, assisted by the Wastewater Supervisor. has <br />overall management responsibilities for these facilities. Figure 2 provides <br />an organizational chart of the existing and proposed Wastewater Treatment <br />Division. <br />Presently. the WTD operates seven days a week and supports 30 permanent. <br />full-time. authorized positions. The WTD serves several purposes that <br />include monitoring the operations of nine County -owned wastewater treatment <br />facilities, maintaining all equipment at each facility. recording quantities <br />at each facility. tracking operational costs per 1,000 gallons. and <br />performing overall wastewater treatment plant operations. <br />Combined with the above-mentioned duties. the Wastewater Supervisor will have <br />overall management responsibilities for the proposed Facility. Normal hours <br />of operation are expected to be eight hours per day, five days per week. <br />However, during peak conditions. operators may be required to work up to 12 <br />hours per day. The addition of two full-time permanent and four part-time <br />permanent employees will provide suppon for the day-to-day operation and <br />maintenance of the proposed Facility. <br />EXISTING TREATMENT FACILITIES AND OPERATIONS <br />Presently, wastewater treatment and disposal services within the <br />unincorporated County are provided by approximately 20 wastewater treatment <br />plants ranging in size from 0.01 million gallons per day to 1.0 million <br />gallons per day (mgd). Of these facilities. nine are owned and operated by <br />the County and are listed in Table 1. <br />M.VRB2/5 <br />
