a. Joints in gutters must be lapped a minimum of 1 inch, riveted 1 inch on <br />center. Install sealant tape between gutter sections and sealant at <br />exposed inside edge and on rivets. Lap joints in the direction of water <br />flow if possible. <br />3. Provide butt type expansion joints in gutters at spacing appropriate for the type <br />material used to fabricate gutters. Refer to SMACNA Manual Figure 1-7. <br />Maximum length of gutters shall be 50'. <br />4. Provide downspout outlets in downspout locations. Refer to SMACNA Manual <br />Figure 1-33B. Gutter outlet tubes to be tabbed a minimum of 1", set in a full <br />bead of sealant and secured to gutter with a minimum of two rivets per tab. <br />5. Provide primed and painted brackets and spacers as shown in detail drawings. <br />Evenly stagger the placement of brackets and spacers. Spacing shall be 36" on <br />center for both brackets and spacers. <br />6. Spacers shall be riveted to both sides of the gutter only. <br />7. Brackets shall be secured with two stainless steel fasteners to the wood blocking <br />as indicated in the Contract Drawings. <br />8. Leading edge of gutter to be a minimum of 1" below the back edge as shown in <br />detail drawing. <br />9. Hang gutters level. <br />D. Downspouts: <br />1. Fabricate downspouts in 10' lengths. Refer to SMACNA Architectural Sheet <br />Metal Manual Figure 1-32B. <br />2. Downspouts shall tie into existing below grade storm drainage system or if no <br />below grade system is applicable downspouts shall kick -out above grade onto <br />concrete splash blocks. Fill in soil to provide slope away from building. <br />3. Each downspout shall be secured to the structure with two-piece hangers spaced <br />no more than 8' apart with a minimum of two hangers per downspout with a <br />hanger located within 12" from bottom. Hangers shall be primed and painted to <br />match downspouts. Refer to SMACNA Architectural Sheet Metal Manual <br />Figure 1-35H. <br />4. Downspouts are to be fashioned so as to run back to (at overhangs) and parallel <br />to the facility walls. <br />5. Provide discharge elbow at the base of downspout. <br />6. Install splash pans on 18" by 30" walk pads where downspouts discharge onto an <br />adjacent roof area. Splash pan shall be fabricated to meet SMACNA Figure 1- <br />36. <br />E. Fascia Cover/Rake Edge <br />1. Fabricate metal edge as shown in detail drawings in 10' lengths. Refer to <br />SMACNA Manual Figure 2-1. <br />2. Install continuous cleat as indicated in detail drawings fastened to substrate 6" on <br />center. Locate fasteners no greater than 2" from the bottom hem. <br />3. Lock metal edge onto continuous cleat and lock onto clip assembly/zee closure <br />and rivet at 12" on center. <br />4. Notch and lap ends of adjoining fascia cover sheet metal sections not less than <br />4"; apply sealant between sections. <br />5. Hand tong all of metal edge onto continuous cleat. <br />F.
