COUNTY ATTORNEY MATTERS <br />13.A. 17-0502 Resolution Amending Utilities Sludge and Septage Rate <br />Recommended Action: The County Attorney's Office recommends that the Chair allow for public comment <br />on this matter and then have the Board vote to approve the resolution as drafted. <br />Attachments: Staff Report <br />Resolution <br />Biosolids Revenue and Expense Analysis <br />County Attorney Dylan Reingold recalled the May 2, 2017 Board meeting, where <br />staff was directed to draft a resolution to increase the sludge and septage rate from <br />$7.51 to $15.00 per wet ton. He clarified that it was a temporary measure, as the <br />Utilities Department was in the process of examining a long-term change for the <br />rates. <br />Director of Utilities Vincent Burke provided an update on the positive changes <br />since the decision was made to terminate the receiving of waste from out -of -county <br />haulers to the Residuals Dewatering Facility (RDF), also known as the BioSolids <br />Facility. He noted that there had been a 53% reduction in material since the <br />decision was made at the May 2nd meeting, and hoped that stabilization would <br />occur after 30 days. <br />Indian River County Florida Page 14 <br />
