Board of County Commissioners Meeting Minutes-Final September 13, 2017 <br /> Administrator Brown explained that the General Fund proposed millage is <br /> 3.4604, 9.0% above the rolled back rate and is 0.98% above the current rate. <br /> The proposed budget is $86,106,794, 1.6% or$1.4 million above the current <br /> year budget. <br /> The Chairman opened the floor for public comments; there being no speakers, <br /> he closed the public comments session. <br /> A motion was made by Vice Chairman O'Bryan,seconded by Commissioner Zorc, <br /> to adopt the tentative millage rate of 3.4604, 9.0%above the rolled back rate,for <br /> the General Fund.The motion carried by the following vote: <br /> Aye: 5- Chairman Flescher, Vice Chairman O'Bryan, Commissioner Adams, <br /> Commissioner Solari, and Commissioner Zorc <br /> A motion was made by Vice Chairman O'Bryan, seconded by Chairman Flescher,to <br /> adopt the tentative budget of$86,106,794 for the General Fund. The motion carried by <br /> the following vote: <br /> Aye: 5- Chairman Flescher, Vice Chairman O'Bryan, Commissioner Adams, <br /> Commissioner Solari, and Commissioner Zorc <br /> M.S.T.U. <br /> 17-0918 <br /> Attachments: M.S.T.U. <br /> Administrator Brown explained that the proposed millage rate is 1.0773 mils, or <br /> 5.5%above rollback. The proposed budget is $30,713,214, which is an increase <br /> of$292,000 or 0.96% over the current year budget. <br /> The Chairman opened the floor for public comments; there being no speakers, <br /> he closed the public comments session. <br /> County Attorney Dylan Reingold asked for clarification on the percentage rate <br /> that was announced as 5.5% above rollback, as his agenda information showed <br /> 5.49% above rollback. <br /> Administrator Brown clarified that the percentage rate was rounded to the <br /> nearest tenth on his PowerPoint,but that 5.49%was more accurate. It was the <br /> consensus of the Board to use the 5.49%. <br /> A motion was made by Commissioner Zorc,seconded by Chairman Flescher,to <br /> adopt the tentative millage rate of 1.0733, 5.49%above rollback rate of 1.0174,for <br /> the Municipal Service Taxing Unit.The motion carried by the following vote: <br /> Aye: 5- Chairman Flescher, Vice Chairman O'Bryan, Commissioner Adams, <br /> Commissioner Solari, and Commissioner Zorc <br /> Indian River County Florida Page 2 <br />
