5 <br />PROCLAMATION <br />DESIGNATING THE MONTH OF OCTOBER, 2017, AS <br />INDIAN RIVER COUNTY FAMILY HISTORY MONTH <br />WHEREAS, the Indian River Genealogical Society has completed the CEMETERY PROJECT, <br />as its way of Paying it Forward to the community and residents. All cemeteries in Indian River County <br />have been included, and those individuals interred therein remembered for posterity. The database is <br />available to the public, includes information and photographs, and resides on the Society's website at <br />www.irgs.orq; and <br />WHEREAS, for the past thirty four years, the Indian River Genealogical Society, as an <br />organization furthers genealogical research and promotes interest in family and local history providing <br />lectures, workshops and seminars educating the public; and <br />WHEREAS, the Indian River Genealogical Society provided grave rows markers to the Gifford <br />Cemetery Association and encouraged the recognition of veterans buried therein; and <br />WHEREAS, the Indian River Genealogical <br />veterans by researching, organizing, documenting <br />Veterans Memorial Island Sanctuary; and <br />Society has helped preserve the legacy of local <br />and articulating the story of the men honored on <br />WHEREAS, the Indian River Genealogical Society has consistently assisted and supported <br />the Julian W. Lowenstein Archive Center and Genealogical Library at the Indian River County Main <br />Library with volunteers, -assistance, books and equipment. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA, that the Board designates the month of October, 2017, as <br />Indian River County Family History Month, and hereby congratulates the Indian River <br />Genealogical Society on its work and successes in Indian River County for over 30 years. <br />Adopted this 17th day of October, 2017.
