Gray, Jr. <br />Natural Resources Manager <br />SUBJECT: Work Order No. 23 APTIM Coastal Planning and Engineering, Inc. <br />Sector 5 Beach Restoration Project — Permitting and Construction . <br />Services <br />DATE: December 11, 2017 <br />BACKGROUND <br />On March 19, 2013 the Board approved a contract with APTIM Coastal Planning & Engineering, <br />Inc. (APTIM) f/k/a CB&I Coastal Planning and Engineering, Inc. for professional coastal <br />engineering services in Indian River County for a two-year term, 2013-2015. On March 17, 2015 <br />the Board renewed the contract until March 19, 2017. On April 11, 2017, the Board extended <br />the contract until December 31, 2017. CB&I is the selected County consultant for professional <br />engineering services related to the Sector 5 Beach Nourishment Project. <br />The Sector 5 project area is a 3 mile section of shoreline that extends just north of Tracking <br />Station Beach Park south to the Gables Oceanfront Condominiums. The majority of the project <br />area is located within the City of Vero Beach's jurisdiction with the exception of Tracking Station <br />Park and the Florida Tech Marine Lab residing in unincorporated Indian River County. <br />Following a supporting recommendation from the Indian River County Beach Committee, the <br />Board approved Work Order No. 12 with APTIM, on April 12, 2016; initiating the design and <br />permitting phases of the Sector 5 Beach Nourishment Project. To date, the remaining <br />engineering services under Work Order No. 12 are still being completed. <br />DESCRIPTION AND CONDITIONS <br />The proposed Work Order No. 23 includes ten (10) separate tasks and provides professional <br />engineering services for the continued development and implementation of the planned Sector <br />5 Beach Nourishment Project. <br />C:\Users\legistar\AppData\Local\Temp\BCL Technologies\easyPDF 8\@BCL@400D97C7\@BCL@400D97C7.doex 96 <br />
