BROOKS, MANAGER <br />SOLID WASTE DISPOSAL DISTRI(.- <br />SUBJECT: MOSQUITO CONTROL/WASTE TIRE ABATEMENT GRANT <br />BACKGROUND <br />The Florida Department of Environmental Regulation (FDER) is <br />awarding grants to the counties that have mosquito control <br />programs for. the purpose of controlling mosquitos generated by <br />waste tire site or other debris sites. The Mosquito Control <br />Department requested that the Board of County Commissioners apply <br />for this grant and the Board subsequently authorized the SWDD <br />staff to apply for the grant in their behalf. <br />The FDER has awarded the County a Mosquito Control Grant in the <br />amount of $18,802 as provided in the attached grant contract, No. <br />MT93-29. These funds may be -transferred to the Mosquito Control <br />program, provided that the program is certified by the Department <br />of Agriculture and Consumer Services, however, compliance with <br />the grant is ultimately the responsibility of the County. <br />10 <br />
