CONCLUSION <br />The grant funds will be of benefit in the control and elimination <br />of mosquito problems related to waste tire sites. An application <br />for the grant was submitted to the DER prior to October 1, 1992. <br />SWDD staff will serve as the primary coordinator for the grant <br />and the subsequent paperwork related to obtaining the grant <br />funds. SWDD staff requests that the Board of County <br />Commissioners approve the grant and authorize the Chairperson to <br />execute the contract. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Bird, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Macht, the Board unanimously approved <br />the mosquito control grant from the Florida <br />Department of Environmental Regulation in the amount <br />of $18,802 and authorized the Chairman to execute <br />the contract, as recommended by staff. <br />CONTRACT IS ON FILE <br />IN THE OFFICE OF THE CLERK TO THE BOARD <br />I. Underwriter Selection for Utility Financing <br />The Board reviewed the following memo dated December -2, 1992: <br />TO: Members of the Board <br />of County Commissioners <br />DATE: December 2, 1992 <br />SUBJECT: UNDERWRITER SELECTION FOR UTQ,rIY FINANCING <br />CONSENT AGENDA <br />FROM: Joseph A. Baird <br />OMB Director <br />At the meeting of September 8, 1992, the Board of County Commissioners authorized staff <br />to send out proposals for an Underwriter to evaluate Utility financing needs. Proposals <br />were received from A. G. Edwards, William R. Hough & Company and Raymond James <br />and Associates. <br />On November 30, 1992 a selection committee comprised of Jim Chandler, County <br />Administrator, Charles Vitunac, County Attorney, Art Diamond, Financial Advisor, Joseph <br />A. Baird, OMB Director, and Terry Pinto, Utilities Director reviewed proposals and <br />presentations from all three firms. The selection committee concluded William R. Hough <br />& Company was the best candidate. <br />Staff recommends that the Board of County Commissioners approve William R.
