Davis, P.E., <br />Public Works Direct; <br />SUBJECT: AWARD OF BIDS - <br />.1) Bid # 3032 - Hobart Park South Ballfield <br />Lighting <br />2) Bid # 3045 - Fairgrounds Restroom Building <br />(Budget Amendment 008) <br />DATE: December 28, 1992 FILE: award.agn <br />DESCRIPTION AND CONDITIONS <br />Included in the 1991/92 annual budget, $30,000 was budgeted for <br />lighting the Hobart Park South Ballfield (Fund 004-108 North <br />County Recreation) and $80400 was budgeted to construct a <br />restroom building at the Fairgrounds (Fund 004-210 Parks). <br />Design of the facilities began in spring of 19921 and bids were <br />advertised in Oct/Nov., 1992. The following bids were received <br />Bid # 3032 — Hobart Park Ballfield Lighting <br />Low Bid - American Lighting Maintenance, Inc. $ 54,433.60 <br />West Palm Beach, FL. Less Alt. #1 3,510.20 <br />j7-50,923.46 <br />Bid _# 3045 - Fairground Restroom Building <br />Low Bid - John Vetter and Sons, Inc. $ 156,953.84 <br />Vero Beach, Fl. Less Deducts 18,454.00 <br />$ 138,499.84 <br />Plus 4" Water line 747.48 <br />$ 139,247.32 <br />For the 2714" x 55' building, this equates to $92.64 per square <br />foot. <br />Both projects have come in over budget. <br />ALTERNATIVES AND ANALYSIS <br />Since both projects are over budget, staff considered the <br />following alternatives: <br />Alternative No. 1 <br />Since there does not appear to be a great demand at this <br />time for a second lighted field at Hobart Park (New fields <br />have- recently been constructed at South County Park and <br />Barber `Street Complex), this project could be delayed for a <br />few years until demand is present. The $30,000 budgeted for <br />the ballfield project could be reallocated for - the <br />Fairgrounds Restroom building.
