LETTER: Dale Bathon, Assistant City Engineer to <br />Jim Davis dated Dec. 31, 1992 <br />DATE: January 12, 1993 FILE: aia.agn <br />DESCRIPTION AND CONDITIONS <br />The City of Vero Beach Engineering Department is managing the <br />road widening project for SR AlA between Castaway Boulevard and <br />Beachland Blvd. (approx. length two miles). The Florida DOT and <br />Federal Highway Administration are funding construction of the <br />project. Engineering Design Services have been funded through <br />the District 2 Traffic Impact Fee Fund in the amount of $348,019. <br />At this time, the City is requesting that $235,.000 be allocated <br />from the District 2 Traffic Impact Fee Account to fund <br />construction engineering and inspection services for the <br />estimated $3.6 million dollar project., The current available <br />balance in the Fund is approximately ,q-800,000 of which $700,000 <br />has been allocated to widening improvements for South AlA. <br />Funds, therefore, are available in the Account. <br />The City staff and consulting Engineer are available for <br />questions if necessary. <br />ALTERNATIVES AND ANALYSIS <br />The alternatives presented include the following: <br />Alternative #1 <br />Approve the request that $235,000 be allocated from Fund <br />101-152-541-067.12 for construction engineering and <br />inspection services for AlA widening. <br />Alternative #2 <br />Deny the request. <br />RECOMMENDATIONS AND FUNDING <br />The County staff has discussed the project costs with City staff <br />and recommends that Alternative No. 1 be approved as requested by <br />the City. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Eggert, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Macht, the Board unanimously <br />approved Alternative #1 for $235,000 to be allocated <br />for construction, engineering and inspection <br />services for AlA widening, as recommended by staff. <br />46 <br />
