r -FEB 16 1993 <br />George Bunnell appeared before Board and commended the Board <br />and staff for their efforts and cooperation. He also mentioned <br />that the project of moving the trees on barges up the river has <br />gained the attention of several magazines. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Adams, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Eggert, the Board unanimously <br />authorized the use of County equipment and labor to <br />assist the Environmental Learning Center in the <br />relocation of large trees, as recommended by staff. <br />AMENDMENT TO FBIP GRANT AGREEMENT - ROUND ISLAND PARR IMPROVEMENTS <br />The Board reviewed memo from Capital Projects Manager Terry <br />Thompson dated February 12, 1993: <br />TO: James E. Thompson, P.E. <br />Capital Projects Manager <br />SUBJECT: Amendment to FBIP Grant Agreement for <br />Round Island Park Improvements <br />DATE: February 12, 1993 <br />DESCRIPTION AND 'CONDITIONS <br />FILE: rifbip.agn <br />On February 18, 1992, Indian River County accepted a $150,000 <br />Florida Boating Improvement Program Grant for Round Island Park <br />river access improvements. Scheduled improvements include <br />construction of paved access road, parking, restroom building, <br />addition boat ramp and waterfront boardwalk with fishing docks. <br />The Agreement requires that the project be completed by February <br />18, 1993 unless the project period has been extended. Staff <br />requested that the FBIP extend funding on the project one year <br />because of delays in permitting. <br />On February 11, 1993, the County received the attached Amendment <br />that extends the project completion deadline to February 17, <br />1994. This Amendment must be executed prior to the February.18, <br />1993 deadline of the original Agreement. <br />RECOMMENDATIONS AND FUNDING <br />Staff recommends that the Chairman be authorized to execute the <br />attached Amendment to the Agreement. <br />This $150,000 FBIP grant is the County's match for a $130,000 <br />grant that the County accepted from the Florida Inland Navigation <br />District. <br />26 <br />
