"Sonny" Dean, Director of General ServicesAl <br />FROM: Fran Boynton Powell, Purchasing Manage <br />SUBJ: Standardize Power Assisted Door Openers <br />Installed in County Buildings <br />--------------------------------------------------------- <br />BACKGROUND: <br />Building and Grounds has submitted a request to <br />standardize all power assisted door openers installed in <br />County owned and operated buildings. This will allow for <br />a minimum inventory of spare parts and uniform training <br />on installation and repair with one particular <br />manufacturer. The manufacturer selected is Horton <br />Automatics because the operation of this equipment meets <br />all criteria of the American Disabilities Act. The <br />County has installed this type of power assisted door <br />opener at the Main Library and has a good history of <br />minimal required repair. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff recommends that the County standardize future <br />purchases of power assisted door openers to Horton <br />Automatics and waive any bidding requirements. <br />Automatic Entrances, located in Fort Lauderdale is the <br />sole distributor for this equipment in the State of <br />Florida. <br />DATE: FEBRUARY 22, 1993 <br />TO: HONORABLE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />THRU: JAMES E.
