MAR 2 3 1993 <br />BOOK 89 FAGF 8 -7 <br />PROCLAMATIONS AND PRESENTATIONS <br />Chairman Bird read aloud the following Proclamation and <br />presented it to Mary Havron, representative of the Exchange Club: <br />PROCLAMATION <br />DESIGNATING APRIL, 1993 AS <br />CHILD ABUSE PREVENTION MONTH <br />IN INDIAN .RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA <br />WHEREAS, child abuse and neglect is a serious and growing <br />problem affecting more than two million of our nation's children <br />annually and of children locally; and <br />WHEREAS, the societal malignancy called child abuse and <br />neglect respects no racial, religious, class, or geographical <br />boundaries, and, in fact, has been declared a national <br />emergency; and <br />WHEREAS, the Exchange Club Center for the Prevention of <br />Child Abuse of the Treasure Coast, Inc., through its support of <br />parent aide programs, parenting classes and educational <br />programs, is making significant progress in stopping this crime <br />against our nations and community's children and families: <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY <br />COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA that the entire <br />month of April,. 1993 be observed as <br />CHILD ABUSE PREVENTION MONTH <br />in Indian River County, and all citizens are urged to use this <br />time to better understand, recognize, and respond to this <br />grievous problem; and <br />The Board further congratulates the Exchange Club Center <br />for the Prevention of Child Abuse for its continued success in <br />helping families break free from the cycle of child abuse.' <br />Adopted this 23rd day of March, 1993. <br />BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA <br />Richard N.
