r <br />ANALYSIS: <br />p <br />BOOK 89 FAi,F 331 <br />Due to the complexity of this type system and unknowns involved, it <br />was impossible for staff or the consultant to know exact cost <br />involved. Because of these factors, it was determined to negotiate a <br />price to engineer the system and then pay for equipment with <br />installation cost. This would allow us to size the system in <br />accordance with available monies. <br />Using this scenario, PCS has agreed to engineer the system at a total <br />cost of $8,000 and to furnish and install the system at a cost not to <br />-- exceed $192,000. This price includes the cost to install a fiber <br />optic cable with a minimum of twelve strands from the jail, via the <br />Administration building, into the new courthouse. All necessary <br />equipment and labor for one station in the jail and two courtrooms in <br />the judicial building. Also in that price is wiring in the remaining <br />courtrooms and hearing rooms for future expansion. <br />The consultant will be required to look at using any existing <br />facilities that may serve to reduce cost of the proposed system. He <br />will also investigate the possibility of using the system to process <br />Juveniles from the detention center in Fort Pierce. <br />FUNDING: <br />A line item with funds of $200,000 was included in the construction <br />budget for this system. <br />RECOMMENDATIONS: <br />Staff recommends Board approval of the attached contract with <br />Precision Contracting Services, Inc. at a total price not to exceed <br />$200,000 and requests authorization for the Chairman to execute the <br />documents'. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Eggert, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Macht, the Board unanimously approved <br />the contract with Precision Contracting Services, <br />Inc., for design and construction services at a <br />total price not to exceed $200,000, as recommended <br />by staff. <br />AGREEMENT FOR DESIGN & CONSTRUCTION SERVICES <br />IS ON FILE IN THE OFFICE OF CLERK TO THE BOARD <br />SALE OF WATER AND SEWER BONDS <br />OMB Director Joe Baird reported that the County's water and <br />sewer bonds were refinanced and $17,700,000.00 in new debt for <br />utilities expansion was issued.
