Florida <br />PROCLAMATION <br />DESIGNATING APRIL 25 TO MAY 1, 1993 AS <br />CRIME VICTIMS' RIGHTS WEER <br />IN INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA <br />WHEREAS, violence is on the rise in America, with one <br />violent crime committed every 17 seconds; and <br />WHEREAS, with 35 million Americans victimized in the United <br />States each year, crime victims are rapidly becoming a majority <br />in our nation; and <br />WHEREAS, as a nation devoted to liberty and justice for all, <br />America must increase its .efforts to protect and restore crime <br />victims' rights; and <br />WHEREAS, all citizens must do their part to stop violence by <br />reporting crimes, by supporting more equitable sentencing laws, <br />and by refusing to tolerate injustice in our homes or on our <br />streets; and <br />WHEREAS, crime victims and those who serve them deserve our <br />support for their quest to secure victim justice; and <br />WHEREAS, a national commitment to violence reduction and <br />victim assistance will help bring criminals to justice, and <br />justice to victims: <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY <br />COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA that the week of <br />April 25 to May 1, 1993 be designated as <br />CRIME VICTIMS' RIGHTS WEEK <br />in Indian River County.
