DeBlois,,AAIICP <br />Chief, Environmental Planning <br />DATE: May 18, 1993 <br />RE: Indian River Lagoon National Estuary Program (IRLNEP) <br />Request for Boating Improvement Program Funds to Develop <br />a Lagoon Boater's Guide <br />It is requested that the data herein presented be given formal <br />consideration by the Board of County Commissioners at their regular <br />meeting of May 25, 1993. <br />DESCRIPTION AND CONDITIONS <br />On May 5, 1993, water resources planner Amy Hart of the Indian <br />River Lagoon National Estuary Program (IRLNEP) wrote a letter to <br />county staff requesting that the County contribute $2,000 to a <br />multi -county project. The project consists of developing a <br />publication entitled "A Boater's Guide to Resource Protection in <br />the Indian River Lagoon". <br />The Guide is intended to provide boaters with important information <br />on resource protection issues associated with the Indian River <br />Lagoon, as well as with information relating to fueling locations, <br />channel locations, pump -out facilities, anchorages, fishing, and <br />regulatory restrictions. The Guide, if approved for funding, will <br />be available to the public at no charge at various locations, <br />including tax assessor offices, state and county parks, marinas and <br />marina dealerships. <br />The IRLNEP is requesting that the $2,000 contribution be provided <br />from the County's share of FY993-94 Florida Boating Improvement <br />Program (FBIP) monies. Ms. Hart indicates in her letter that <br />funding for the project has been --authorized from at least 9 of 12 <br />agencies and organizations requested to participate in the <br />development of the project. <br />107 <br />MAY 25199 <br />800F.89 F���C_ 70 <br />
