Approval of Used Lift Truck for Traffic Engineering Dept. <br />The Board reviewed the following memo dated 6/28/93: <br />TO: BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS June 28, 1993 <br />James E. "Sonny" Dean, Director of General S ices# <br />FROM: Fran Boynton Powell, Purchasing Manage q <br />SUBJ: Second Request for the purchase of Used Lift <br />Truck for Traffic Engineering Department <br />BACKGROUND INFORMATION: <br />On February 2,, 1993,. the Board of County Commissioners <br />approved the purchase of a reconditioned forklift from <br />Kelly Tractor for the above referenced department. <br />The forklift was delivered on March 3 , 1993 and was found <br />to have excessive oil and hydraulic oil leaks. The unit <br />was returned to Kelly Tractor for repair. Kelly Tractor <br />redelivered the forklift but it was still unacceptable due <br />to four (4) separate oil leaks. Vendor stated that it <br />would be cost prohibitive to attempt further repairs and <br />took the unit back.and returned the County's trade-in 1956 <br />towmotor. The purchase order to Kelly Tractor was <br />cancelled at no cost to the County. <br />ANALYSIS: <br />The Purchasing Division has located the following <br />reconditioned lift trucks which meet the department <br />requirements: <br />1. 1986 Nissan C-30 Mid -Florida Forklift, Orlando, FL. <br />Net Delivered Price.*.........$6,850.00 <br />2. 1983 TCM FYG 15 Johnny Stamm Equipment, Ft. Pierce <br />Net Delivered Price.... o*..o..$6,900.00 <br />3. 1986 Kalmar C-30 Florida Industrial Trucks, Lakeland <br />Net Delivered Price... *--*--*.$7p500e00 <br />The 1986 Nissan has a 90 day warranty on the complete - <br />unit, and a six month engine and transmission warranty, <br />parts and labor. The TCM and the Kalmar unit both only <br />offer a 30 day warranty. <br />SOURCE OF FUNDS: Traffic Engineering Other Machinery and <br />Equipment Account <br />BUDGETED AMOUNT: $8,000.00 <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff recommends that the Board approve this second * <br />request for the purchase of the i986 Nissan C-30 forklift <br />from Mid -Florida Forklift in the amount of $6,850.00 and <br />declare the 1956 towmotor, current property of the Traffic <br />Enqineering Departmentras surplus equipment. <br />9 <br />JUL - 6 1993 <br />L'� Boor 89 965 <br />
